The non-broadcasted pilot episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer which was produced by 20th Century Fox in 1996 to pitch a series to networks. The thirty-minute production was written and directed by Buffy creator Joss Whedon. This rough draft of the series premiere had a tiny budget, so its production values were limited. Most networks were uninterested in developing the television show after viewing the presentation. The WB Network eventually decided to take a risk and accepted the show. There were few post-production touch-ups. For example there is no musical score and its 'special effects' are very limited (a vampire dusting seems to have been portrayed using clay, and amateur stop-motion). This unaired pilot episode has a similar plot and dialogues as the two-part opener of the show. More info at the Wikipedia Quality Rating Score: Questions?
