Fabio Testi is Tonino, a man just out from a two-year turn in jail. He isn’t free more than a few days before trouble finds him again and he is forced into a knife fight with the same person that caused him to end up incarcerated in the first place! Crime lord Capesce witnesses the cunning and intelligence Tonino uses to win the fight and decides to hire him as a truck driver. As more opportunities come his way, Tonino dedicates himself to rising to the top; his family and fiancée have trouble with this but there is nothing they can do as they are left further and further behind.
